How to Wire Chicken Lights

Step 1: Mark the  Areas Where You Will Place the Light

At first, select and mark the places where you want to set the chicken lights. For that, you can choose the areas with proper measurement. It would be best if you label them accurately using scales. Otherwise, it may look very odd and dissonant from the outside.

Step 2: Drill the Areas with a Drill Machine

Now take a drill machine and make holes as per the size of your wire of the lights. You may take the drill nuts of any length, but make sure the holes are bigger enough to bring out the cable.

Step 3: Place the Lights

Now place the lights on the marked areas and secure with nuts tightly. Keep the wire side on the back so that the wire is not shown from outside.

Step 4: Select the Power Source Wire

Well, in this step, you need to be very careful. You have to select your power source wire from where the lights will get power to enlighten. Here, you can choose the cables providing power to your parking lights or the backlights.

For that, you need to open the backlight panel and find out the source wire. You will see green, brown, black, and yellow color wire mostly. Some cars may not have the black one or maybe a white one instead of brown.

You should know here that the green and yellow wires are for turning signal lights, and the brown or the white wire is for trail lights. So, you have to select the brown wire or the white.

Step 5: Know the  Source Wire of the Lights

Know the source wire or the hot-wire of the chicken lights, that you have to connect with the power source. Most of the lights have two types of wire-one black that are positive and another white or brown color that is positive. So, you have to find the negative to connect with the power source. For this, you must select the brown wire or rarely the white in some cases.

Step 6: Connect the Wires

Now connect the wire of the lights with the power wire that is the brown one. You can join the cables with a splicer. You won’t need to cut any wires and connect them by using a splicer.

But if you don’t have any splicer, then you can cut the wires carefully and attach them with your hands. But make sure you switch off all the power connections. If you connect the wires manually, then, after that, you have to wrap a tape around the wiring joint for long time betterment issues.

Step 7: Connect the Grounding Wire

Now join the remaining black wire of the lights with the grounding wire from the backlight panel. Some chicken lights may not have black wires, in that case, no further issue. Skip this step.

Step 8: Check the  Lights

Now your chicken lights wiring is done. Check the lights by turning on the switch of the backlights. If it lightens up, then what else enjoy your night driving.
